Rusty Scuppers Pirate Days @ Downtown Westport

Rusty Scuppers will kick off it’s 12th year this summer! The parade is on Saturday at noon.

Have a look around. Parking at the Viking Bowl on Montesano St. will be provided for free. After parking, regular shuttles will arrive courtesy of local taxi service Beach Taxi. Taxi services by Beach Taxi will be available any time by calling 360-581-9270. Parking is very limited in town.

Come aboard the Lady Washington and/or Hawaiian Chieftain for a self-guided tour of each ship. Crew will be on hand in period costume to answer questions and tell stories. A ticket is not required. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.

Our popular three-hour Battle Sails feature booming cannons, close-quarters maneuvers, and a taste of 18th century maritime life aboard tall ships. A ticket is required for all passengers, including babes in arms. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 8 or more automatically receive a 15 percent ticket discount when they buy online.

Gravity Catastrophe, Physics and Comedy @ Aberdeen Timberland Library

Alex Zerbe’s zany new show, “Gravity Catastrophe,” demonstrates basic concepts of physics through the art of juggling. In his wacky way, Zerbe helps kids understand gravity, friction, center of mass and gyroscopic stability. Children will also discover the six simple machines and see the lever, inclined plane and the wheel and axle in action. This event is part of Summer Reading, a Timberland Regional Library districtwide program.

The Five Star Dealerships Sand and Sawdust Festival @ Ocean Shores Convention Center/Beach

Master chainsaw carvers from all over the world flock to this coastal beach town to compete, Daily families and artists sculpt it out for the best sand sculpture. Free sculpting lessons on Friday, Sunday and Watch Out for that rising tide! Unique Sawdust wood carvings sold at auction each day. Kids Zone, contests. Lady Washington Walk-on Tours @ Westport Marina

Lady Washington, the Official Ship of the State of Washington, will help the City of Westport celebrate its 100th birthday with a visit June 27-29. The vessel will offer walk-on tours and a special Fireworks Sail for viewing the city’s fireworks show. Here’s the ship’s schedule:

6/27: 11:30 a.m., arrival of Lady Washington at Westport Marina

6/27: Noon to 5 p.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation per person requested

6/28: Noon to 5 p.m., walk-on tours, $3 donation per person requested

6/28: 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Fireworks Sail, $43-$63

6/29: 8 a.m., Lady Washington departs for Aberdeen.

The Fireworks Sail offers a chance for guests to watch the celebratory fireworks from the deck of a tall ship as it sails in Grays Harbor.

Guests will board the ship before departure at 8 p.m. Groups of eight or more purchasing tickets together automatically receive a 15 percent per ticket discount. The show is expected to start at dusk.

Lady Washington is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her launch this year. The ship will also appear at Rusty Scupper Pirate Daze in Westport June 20-22.
