The National Weather Service in Seattle has indicated that a very strong wind event will impact Grays Harbor County today. A high wind warning is in effect for the coast until 3:00 p.m. today.
Along the coast, South/Southwest winds are forecast to be 35-45 mph sustained, likely gusting to 65 mph. There is a moderate possibility that wind gusts could surpass 65 mph and reach 70+ mph. Areas likely to be affected are Westport, Ocean Shores, Moclips, Taholah, Hoquiam and Aberdeen
A wind advisory has been issued from 7:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. today for the Inland areas of the county for sustained winds out of the South/Southwest at 25-35 mph, gusting to 40-50 mph.
The highest winds will be from mid to late morning.
A HIGH SURF ADVISORY has been issued from 7:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m. today. High surf conditions with waves 20-25′ will cause significant beach erosion Monday during the mid-day high tide.
Please be alert for downed trees, tree limbs and power lines possibly causing power outages throughout the county.
