Maintenance Temporarily Closes SR 8 Elma Rest Area for Two Days

Drivers planning to use the Elma safety rest area off eastbound State Route 8 in Grays Harbor County will need to make other arrangements due to a temporary closure for maintenance.

Closure hours

  • Beginning 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, through 4:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 to rest area will close for routine vegetation management, facilities cleaning and preventative maintenance to the pumps. The next available safety rest area is located 30 miles east at Maytown along southbound I-5 in Thurston County.

WSDOT operates Safety Rest Areas across the state to give travelers a place to take a break before continuing their journey.
