Mudslides Close SR 109 in Grays Harbor County

Submitted by Washington State Department of Transportation

Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews have closed two sections of State Route 109 after heavy rainfall triggered multiple mudslides.

Until further notice, both areas of highway will remain closed in Hoquiam at milepost 2, and north of Moclips at milepost 34.

WSDOT geotechnical engineers and maintenance crews are assessing the extent of the slides and working to reopen the highway. WSDOT is working with the City of Hoquiam at the slide located at milepost 2.

There is no estimated timeline for reopening at either location.

During the closure, travelers in Hoquiam can detour using SR 109 and Powell Road. There is no detour available for the SR 109 closure north of Moclips.

Real-time traveler information is available via the WSDOT app and by following the WSDOT regional Twitter feed.
