The Grays Harbor Community Foundation is pleased to be able to invest $93,684 into the community through its first quarter discretionary grants cycle. The Foundation has been a resource to Grays Harbor County non-profits by offering a quarterly discretionary grants cycle, and this quarter, the Foundation awarded 7 grants that totaled $93,684 in discretionary funding. “We were pleased to receive a wide variety of requests from all areas of the county,” said Program Officer, Cassie Lentz. “Outreach is a priority to us to make sure the funding is distributed as equally as possible.”

The organizations that were funded through this discretionary grants cycle include: Aberdeen Little League for a new roof for the Bishop Batting Cage at Pioneer Park, City of Hoquiam for the Levee Street Boat Launch, Community Arts Create for their Rhapsody Folk and Blues Residency, Grays Harbor County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Volunteer Retention, Lake Quinault School District for a Batting Cage and Homework Room, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital for their Tree House program, and NAMI Washington Coast for Mental Health First Aid Training for Youth and Adults.

Dr. Dave Westby, chair of the Grants Committee noted the geographic spread the applications represented. “There are some areas of our community that are particularly isolated that really benefit from a funding source like us. There are also some programs that are a little under the radar but doing amazing things.  We are pleased to be able to support applications for programs that are really making a difference.”

Grays Harbor Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission “to improve the quality of life in the communities throughout Grays Harbor County.”  This is accomplished through many projects and processes that work through or in support of other non-profit organizations, including a quarterly discretionary grants cycle with applications accepted on the first business day of January, April, July and October.
