In this multimedia presentation, Stuller will explore 1) how the female hero in modern mythology has broken through the boys’ club barrier of tradition, and 2) how geek culture is using community-building, crowd-sourcing, performance and media criticism to remain progressive. She will invite audience members to participate and to think deeper about popular culture, media, gender images and storytelling.

With its emphasis on geek culture, this program will be of interest to teens as well as adults. Geek culture celebrates a love of comics, games, tech and television with costuming and conventions.

This program is co-sponsored by Humanities Washington and the Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library. All Timberland Regional Library programs are free and open to the public.
