Workshop: Reducing Flood Impacts @ Grays Harbor PUD
Mar 31 @ 9:00 am – 11:30 am

The cities of Aberdeen and Hoquiam have teamed up to develop a levee and drainage plan to reduce flooding. A walking tour of Fry Creek is planned where the consultants hired to help develop a master plan will conduct a tour of the Fry Creek area, which is a chronic contributor to localized flooding.

The tour will begin with a presentation about the project goals followed by an hour-long walking tour of the area that will likely be changed in order to improve livability, eliminate nuisance flooding and restore the creek for the future.
All stakeholders welcome.

Workshop: Reducing Flood Impacts @ Rotary Log Pavilion
Mar 31 @ 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm

This is the second tour offered this day to give stakeholders in Aberdeen an opportunity to learn about the flood control levee that Aberdeen and Hoquiam have teamed up to develop.
A tour of Aberdeen’s Fry Creek was scheduled to take place in the morning, with Wilson Creek in the afternoon.

The goal is to eliminate nuisance flooding with a levee and proper drainage and remove properties from the flood plain and thus eliminate the requirement for flood insurance. People could still buy insurance the same way they do earthquake insurance, but thousands of property owners would no longer be required to purchase it.
In answer to some concerns, and according to project engineers, there is no expectation that any nuisance flooding in areas not within the scope of this project will be worsened.
