State fish and wildlife managers are asking people in coastal communities to attend a public forum next month to share their views on the values and priorities that should guide the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).
The meeting will be the seventh public forum conducted through WDFW’s ongoing outreach initiative, “Washington’s Wild Future.” More information is available online at http://www.wdfw.wa.gov/wildfuture.
The meeting will include a brief presentation about the importance of fish and wildlife management to Washington’s quality of life and the economies of communities throughout the state. Participants will then be invited to talk in small groups with representatives of the department’s Fish, Wildlife, Enforcement, Licensing, and Habitat programs, as well as WDFW Director Jim Unsworth and his staff.
Comments will also continue to be accepted on WDFW’s website athttp://wdfw.wa.gov/wildfuture/form.html and by email to WildFuture@dfw.wa.gov.

Two inventive businesses, and a very large dog, are hosting fundraisers for the Adopt-A-Pet dog shelter.
Off the Walls Gallery and Sadie Mae Hawkins have teamed up to create a crazy Valentine’s weekend event. Shop owner, Shelly Barnett, is setting up a Valentine-themed photo shoot area in her eclectic art store. Bring your own camera or cell phone and our volunteer photographers will take shots of you and Sadie Mae together. Participation is by donation of cash or bags of dog food.
Who is Sadie Mae Hawkins? Just the most famous dog in Shelton! A gigantic working Cane Corso service dog that just wants to spread love and happiness! Visit her Fan Club Facebook page and come to the gallery for a dog hug and photo.
When you are done there, head around the corner to Smoking Mo’s for their Pints for Pups program and some delicious food. Rent a 24-ounce beer mug for $5 and Mo’s will pass that $5 on to Adopt-A-Pet. Plus, you get an extra 8 ounces of beer with your normal pint purchase – so you get to drink like a Pirate for a good cause. And don’t miss their Tap Takeover with Lagunitas on Feb 24th with a dog food drive. Bring a bag of your favorite dog food and Mo’s will make sure it’s put to good use at Adopt-A-Pet. Smoking Mo’s is at 203 W Railroad Avenue.
Adopt-a-Pet is your local, non-profit dog shelter. In 2015, the team found loving homes for over 300 unwanted, abandoned and abused dogs. If you are interested in volunteering or donating, please visit their website at www.adoptapet-wa.org.
