When mornings get nippy and the leaves start to turn, many northwesterners head for the woods in search of mushrooms. To celebrate this happy rite of autumn, the Oakville Timberland Library will present Forage for Pacific Northwest Mushrooms, Thursday, November 17 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Mycology expert Marian Maxwell will cover the basics: seasons, locations, permits, edible versus non-edible, and cooking. Maxwell is a past-president of the Puget Sound Mycological Society, a Seattle-based organization that encourages mushroom research, education, cultivation, hunting, identification and cooking.
This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oakville Timberland Library. All library programs are free and open to the public.

POETRY WORKSHOP:
Attendees will look at various poetic forms, read some of Wendell Berry’s poems and then participate in some guided conversations around Berry’s work, enjoy more conversation specifically on form, and then do a few writing prompts followed by sharing your pieces.

- Dec. 31, Saturday; 7:57 p.m.; -0.4 feet; Copalis, Mocrocks
Diggers can also start planning for openings in January and February. WDFW recently announced a series of tentative digs on 19 dates through the first two months of 2017. That list can be found on WDFW’s website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfish/razorclams/current.html.
