Come celebrate summer at the beach with one of the largest events in Ocean Shores – Five Star Dealerships’ Sand and Sawdust Festival on Friday, June 28th through Sunday, June 30^th. This free annual festival located at the Ocean Shores Convention Center celebrates our State’s timberlands and our beaches with a Chainsaw Art Show and Auction and Sandcastle and Sand Sculpture Contest.

First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen will hold four concerts this summer as part of our summer lawn concert series. The performances will be held Wednesday, July 10, July 24, August 14, and August 28 at 6:30 PM.

Performers for the series will include:

Jul 10 – Approaching Standards, Local Jazz Group
Jul 24 – The Other Thing, Bellingham-based Jazz Group
Aug 14 – Angel Phoenix, Local Vocalist
Aug 28 – The Coast Trio, Featuring John & Leslie O’Brien and Debbie Akerlund

Concerts are free; attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. If inclement weather, the concerts will be moved inside of the church.

As part of the Bear Festival festivities, the McCleary Civic Renewal Council is hosting a 1.25-mile or 5Kish run, trot, and walk through the city of McCleary. Costumes are encouraged, and prizes will be awarded for best costumes! Judging will be done by the Bear Festival Royalty Court

North Beach PAWS, a private, all volunteer, no-kill animal shelter headquartered in Hoquiam, is hosting its second low-cost vaccination clinic of 2024 scheduled for Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the South Beach Regional Fire Authority Training Center located at 805 WA-105 in Westport. Vaccinations and microchips are $20 each. Core vaccines include rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella for dogs, and rabies and FVRCP for cats. Flea treatment for cats will also be available for $20. North Beach PAWS recently held a vaccination clinic at The Feed Bin in Rochester where approximately 60 animals received vaccinations and/or microchips.
No appointments are needed or will be accepted, the event is first-come, first-served. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers.

The McCleary Museum & Event Center will host the talented Jessica Blinn & Vince Brown at 3PM on Saturday, August 10th 2024 as they perform songs from the American Songbook.  This all ages event will transport you to the “Golden Age” of music as they play popular songs from the 1920’s through

The Ms.Maki Quartet will be performing blues, swing and a little bit of everything.  Open to all ages.  Donations for the McCleary Food bank will be accepted.

There will be two race divisions.
The first race is a timed 1-mile race and is open to 1st–5th grade students. If
there is enough participation, we would like to score teams based on the
students attending grade school and prizes will be given accordingly.
The second race is a community 1-mile fun-run and is open to all ages.

Cost: Registration will be the day of at the track. The cost is $5.00 per person
or $20.00 per family to participate regardless of which race you choose. Either
Cash or Checks will be accepted.

Fundraiser: The proceeds from this event go to support the Aberdeen
Cross Country Team and Aberdeen ASB.

Each performance will be unique so guests who sit down for the second performance don’t have to worry about spoilers!

Celebrate spooky season in the dark northwest forests by solving a murder mystery at the Lake Quinault Lodge. Come dressed in your best 1920s costume, enjoy a premium buffet dinner from the Roosevelt Room, and flout prohibition with cocktails and other drinks. Anticipate mystery, hijinks, and maybe even a haunting. Anything can happen out here.

All costumes are welcome. There will be a prize for the best dressed.

As part of First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen’s mission to the community, our church will hold a spaghetti dinner and craft fair on Saturday, November 2 nd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funds raised will be used to purchase stocking caps, socks and gloves for those in need. The dinner will include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and beverage. Vegetarian & Gluten Free options are available. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Crafts for the event are being made and donated by the congregation.

Tickets can be purchased at the church office or at the door the day of the event.

North Beach PAWS — a private, independent, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to saving the lives of unwanted and homeless dogs and cats — is hosting a VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT EVENT Sunday, November 17th at 2 p.m.! November 19, 2024, Hoquiam, WA – Public Health is proud to announce the premiere of the 28-minute documentary, “Voices of Resilience,” which shines a powerful light on the issues of housing, homelessness, and the human experiences that inspire hope, recovery, and transformation.

Inspired by an outreach event in Fall 2022, Voices of Resilience shares the deeply moving stories of individuals who have experienced homelessness but have since found stable housing, sobriety, and a renewed sense of community. The documentary also features interviews with service providers who work tirelessly alongside these individuals, helping to support them in their journey of healing and growth.

Audience feedback from various community groups—including business owners, service providers, government representatives from the WA Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Commerce, as well as individuals featured in the film—has been overwhelmingly positive. Viewers have described the documentary as an uplifting and much-needed message of hope, particularly during the holiday season. The film underscores the successful elements that contribute to lasting, transformative change, offering a hopeful vision for addressing homelessness in our community.

We are excited to invite you to the Grand Premiere Screening of the documentary, “Voices of Resilience!”

Join us on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, for an inspiring evening at the 7th Street Theatre in Hoquiam. The screening will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by a Q&A session with the documentary’s cast, including individuals featured in the film, service providers, law enforcement officers, and Public Health staff.

This is a unique opportunity to engage with those who have firsthand experience and those working on the frontlines to create meaningful change in our community. The event promises to be both informative and inspiring, offering a chance to connect with others who share the goal of making a difference in the lives of those affected by homelessness.
