All October long, pick up a colorful world map at the Information Desk to trace your family’s passage from your ancestral homeland to Grays Harbor, with landing points along the way. We will supply markers and other crafting supplies for you to use. Maps will be available starting Oct. 3. Supplies are limited. Submissions may be posted to library social media.

A fun, purely social event with no agenda other than meeting other young professionals age 21 – 40. Come and meet with other young professionals from around Grays Harbor.
Hosted by the Shelton Skookum Rotary Club Foundation and attended by thousands, OysterFest is home to the West Coast Oyster Shucking Championships and is Washington State’s official seafood festival.
The festival also features a popular cook-off, hands-on water quality exhibits, and is itself a giant a food pavilion with nearly 100 unique items on the menu: BBQ oysters, fritters, spring rolls, garlic shrimp, fresh cider and so much more. Better yet, your culinary adventure supports about 100 local non-profit service clubs and organizations, as well as funding scholarships and local community improvement projects.

Paint a Seahawk During the Seahawk/Rams Game. You will walk away with an irreplaceable memory and a masterpiece. No artistic ability is needed – you will be guided through the process step-by-step. We supply everything needed to paint. We advise that you dress for the mess, and bring an apron from home. Seahawks game will be playing, Elks bar open!

The luncheon will begin with candidates introducing themselves and sharing why they want to run for the office and their qualifications. Public may ask questions of candidates following all introductions. Candidates expected to attend are those running for Grays Harbor County Treasurer, Elma City Council, Grays Harbor Hospital District #1 (Summit Pacific Medical Center), Grays Harbor Fire District #5 and Elma School District #68 Directors.

Explore the story of your immigration or an ancestor’s in this writing workshop under the guidance of author and poet Joanne Clarkson. Clarkson most recently published a volume of poetry, “The Fates,” which touched on her grandmothers’ immigration experiences.

Great NorthWest Federal Credit Union will, along with more than 56,000 credit unions around the world, celebrate International Credit Union Day (ICU Day), and the philosophy and achievements of the credit union movement.
All four branch locations of Great NorthWest FCU will serve refreshments and have staff on hand to answer questions about our products and services and what constitutes the credit union difference. This year’s ICU Day theme is “Dreams Thrive Here,” a celebration of how credit unions help people achieve their biggest goals in life.

- Budget recap: current impacts and long term sustainability planning
- Housing resources in context of “Local Supply and Demand”
- Updates from Committees (Coordinated Entry, Affordable Housing, Serving Vulnerable Populations)
