Come join us on the Maritime Museum Grounds for Westport’s Annual Seafood Festival, Fun Arts and Crafts, and Live Music. Seafood pro’s will be cooking up salmon, whitefish and oysters, plus shrimp cocktails, corn on the cob, salads and garlic bread. Want just a bite? Enjoy a hot dog or clam chowder. Beer & wine also available.

This interactive, hands-on workshop will cover board responsibilities, operations, development, fundraising, and advocacy. It is based on the Boards in Gear resources developed in partnership with some of our state’s leading board experts. You will leave with concrete action steps, tools, and connections.
This workshop is designed for board members and the people who work with them, namely executive directors and program staff. It offers ideas for new board members and those who have served for a long time. It is appropriate for organizations of all sizes, whether they have staff or not.
On the third Thursday of each month, The Arc of Grays Harbor offers an informative Parent Support group for parents of kids with developmental disabilities. Contact Charlene at 360-537-7000 for more information.
This session will be the capstone event for “Learnings from the Chehalis.” Over the past 15 years, community volunteers, citizens, and government agencies have been putting effort in to making the Chehalis River clean and healthy for people, fish and wildlife. How well have we done? This session will look at progress made on water quality improvement, salmon habitat restoration, water conservation, and the impacts of regulations and policies.
Our capstone talk will be held by a panel from the Chehalis Basin Partnership. The Chehalis Basin Partnership was formed in 1998 to provide a framework for local citizens, interest groups, and government organizations to work collaboratively to identify and solve water-related issues. Come with questions!
Join us for the third annual “Harvest by the Sea”, a benefit dinner honoring Coastal Harvest. The evening starts off with Cocktail Hour at 6:00 pm featuring beer brewed right here in the harbor by Steam Donkey Brewing Company and a wine paring poured by GH Wine Sellars. As you are enjoying a selection of delicious appetizers, entertainment will be provided by Ericka Corban, as seen on “The Voice”. Dinner will be catered by Mill 109 and served at 7:00 pm. The evening will wrap up with a “Desert Auction” where you will have the opportunity to select from a variety of cakes, cupcakes, pies and much more made specially for this event.
Are you watching kids scroll through life with a six-second attention span and rapid fire thumbs? Join physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston as she examines how teenagers screen time impacts their life and friction within the home, while also exploring the larger consequences of technology on society as a whole. A World Cafe style discussion will follow the viewing. For adults and teens.
The American Lung Association is holding Reach the Beach, an inaugural bike riding fundraiser, on Saturday, September 30. This event has staggered starts in Lacey (100 mile), Olympia (80 mile), Elma (44 mile), Cosmopolis 25 mile) with the finish line in Westport.
The last stop on the ride before the finish is at Westport Winery Garden Resort between 1pm and 4pm. The event closes with dinner on the beach for the anticipated 1000 participants. The race organizers will be selling Westport’s wines by the glass to participants and their guests during dinner.
The cost of the ticket covers entry into a door prize drawing, live entertainment, non-alcoholic drinks, and a large German themed meal. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
All money raised will be used to help our neighbors in the Grays Harbor community. Projects include expanding 1st Presbyterian’s facility into a larger community garden, purchasing hygiene and school items for distribution by local churches and nonprofits, other assistance for families and neighbors in need, and funding Saron’s new monthly after school and free dinner program. Come join the Grays Harbor Mounted Posse for their Gaming Buckle Series. Events take place at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds Indoor Arena in Elma, October 7 & 8 at 9am. Events include: Poles, 2-barrel flags, Figure 8, Cal Stack, Key Race, and Barrels. Age divisions are: Pee Wee/8 and under, Junior /3rd.-5th grade, Intermediate/6th- 8th grade, Senior/ 9th.-12th grade, S. Senior/ 19.-34yrs old and Old Timers/35 and over. Cost to participate is just $25 for the day plus $5 arena fee. We offer a $5 discount for 4H or Equestrian team members. Events also include sorting, 2-man ranch and 3-man arena. The festival also features a popular cook-off, hands-on water quality exhibits, and is itself a giant a food pavilion with nearly 100 unique items on the menu: BBQ oysters, fritters, spring rolls, garlic shrimp, fresh cider and so much more. Better yet, your culinary adventure supports about 100 local non-profit service clubs and organizations, as well as funding scholarships and local community improvement projects.
