We are kicking 2017 off with a spectacular event featuring Syncline Winery and Guest Chefs from The Willow Restaurant in Portland. The Willow was voted the Best New Restaurant by Willamette Week’s reader poll in 2016. Chefs John Pickett and Doug Weiler, owners of Willow, will be pairing 5 courses with wines picked by Syncline winemaker and General Manager, James & Poppi Mantone who will be presenting the wines and information about their winery at the dinner. You don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to come on a culinary journey with us, all at our little Town Hall!
We will spend the evening identifying ways to connect with the people in your life, whether it be parents at your kids’ school, your co-workers, and even your own family. It’s so hard to figure out why we unintentionally push away the very peple we love the most. We love our kids but we hurt their feelings. We love our spouse but we hurt them too. The North Beach is celebrating a Decade of Decadence with “Death by Chocolate” at the 10th Annual Chocolate on the Beach Festival! Chocolate recipe contests, chocolate demonstrations, local chocolate food & drink contests and on Saturday and Sunday chocolatiers and craft vendors.

Through these voices we will explore what draws us to this place, what helps us persevere during times of struggle, and what cultivates our sense of belonging to the area known as “The Harbor.
Presented by The Evergreen State College faculty member Stephen Buxbaum, “Voices from the Harbor” is possible because of a grant from Humanities Washington to The Evergreen State College Foundation.

What gives us a sense of place and belonging on the Harbor? Participate in a community mapping project to tell your story of what makes the Harbor…home. To participate, visit here to add to our online map or pick up a mapping kit at the Hoquiam Library beginning on Saturday, April 15.
We will compile community contributions from the mapping activity into a self-guided tour. The link to the tour will be available online or pick up a paper copy at the Hoquiam Library.
Join us for a reception at the Polson Museum on April 29 at 2:30 p.m. to discuss insights and perspectives sparked by the activity and learn about other historic walking tours in the area.
Origins. Remnants. Renaissance. Peel back the layers of meaning of places and spaces of special significance to the Harbor region’s identity along a self-guided tour. Then, join us for a reception at the Polson Museum with local historians and discussions of insights and perspectives sparked by the tour. Tour guides and information will be available on April 29 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Hoquiam Library.
Voices from the Harbor is an event series produced with funding from Humanities Washington. Layers of Meaning: Experiencing the Built Environment is the second event in a three part series.
