Paddle the Shores

Attention paddling, rowing, SUP and water sports enthusiasts. All human-powered water craft are invited to a fun-filled day on the beautiful canals of Ocean Shores Washington.

In addition to the popular Poker Paddle, activities will include 2 or 6-mile human-powered boat races, rubber duck pond and race for the kids, a cardboard boat race, Quinault Paddle Exhibition, speakers, vendors, skills demonstrations and a Music Festival just across the way in our beautiful new grassy Amphitheater.  For more information, go here.

Petty Fever is the two time recipient of the “Tribute Band of The Year” award from the Los Angeles Music Awards in Hollywood, CA for 2013 & 2014. They provide a stunning salute to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, performing over three decades of classic Petty hits such as “American Girl”, “Free Falling”, “Breakdown”, “Running Down a Dream”, “I Won’t Back Down”, “You Wreck Me” and many more to thrilled crowds of all ages.

Live at the Library: Kerry Grombacher, Western Troubadour @ Aberdeen Timberland Library

Please join us for an evening of cowboy music and poetry with Kerry Grombacher. Kerry plays contemporary folk and Western songs on the guitar and mandolin. In the spirit of the troubadours of old, he paints vivid portraits with stories set in the landscapes of his life, from his home on New Orleans’ Bayou St. John to the Southwest desert, and up to Montana and the Northwest forests.

State of the Watershed: A Report Card for the Chehalis River @ Swede Hall

This session will be the capstone event for “Learnings from the Chehalis.” Over the past 15 years, community volunteers, citizens, and government agencies have been putting effort in to making the Chehalis River clean and healthy for people, fish and wildlife. How well have we done? This session will look at progress made on water quality improvement, salmon habitat restoration, water conservation, and the impacts of regulations and policies.

Our capstone talk will be held by a panel from the Chehalis Basin Partnership. The Chehalis Basin Partnership was formed in 1998 to provide a framework for local citizens, interest groups, and government organizations to work collaboratively to identify and solve water-related issues. Map Your Family’s Migration @ Timberland Libraries

Tell Your Immigration Story: A Writing Workshop @ Aberdeen Timberland Library

Coastal Interpretive Center’s Rayonier: 90 Years of Land Management is a presentation about the 90-year history of Rayonier’s land management and modern forestry practices, presented by Mark Smalley, Engineering Manager, and Dan Stransky, the Senior Timber Marketing Manager for Rayonier’s lands in Oregon and Washington.

Saint Martin’s Chorale Concert @ Saint Martin’s Abbey Church

The concert is a collaboration of the University’s music department, Office of Campus Ministry and Benedictine Institute. The tradition began 15 years ago as a way of honoring the University’s patron saint, Saint Martin of Tours, whose feast day is November 11.

“The Sacred Music concerts include Renaissance music, gospel, and contemporary music,” says Darrell Born, associate professor of music and Saint Martin’s Chorale director. “Readings and poetry will be interspersed throughout the concert to punctuate the performances.”

2017 will herald the 14th year of the Galway Bay Celtic Music Festival, celebrating Irish songs, ballads, players and bands. An eclectic mix of Irish bands, choirs and dancers hailing from throughout the United States, Canada and, of course, Ireland will be rounding out this year’s entertainment.

Minors are allowed at the Convention Center, but not at Galway Bay or 8th Street. Children under 12 Are Free.
