In February, we promote healthy smiles by joining with our dental community to offer free dental screenings right inside the Museum! Kids can pretend to be the dentist in our Puget Sound Dental Office exhibit and meet Amazon of Olympia as Wonder Woman and as Captain Carter (see below for dates and times). From sewing a toothy pillow to exploring super-sized animal teeth (fangs and sabers of giant cats), families can enjoy fun and engaging dental health activities all month long.

Westport’s famous Ocosta Booster Club Crab Feed is legendary! The 2024 extravaganza is Saturday, March 9 from noon to 6pm. This over-the-top fundraiser began in 1993. All proceeds benefit scholarships and programs for Ocosta School District students from Westport, Grayland, North Cove and Tokeland, Washington.
Westport, arguably Washington’s best beach community, is famous for many things. Yet, this annual event is one of the most popular drawing visitors from around the state to an all-you-can-eat smorgasbord of Dungeness crab, cocktail sauce, spaghetti, garlic bread, and coleslaw. Beer, wine, cocktails, and sodas are sold separately.
Event organizers said, “Our generous fishing families donate over 3000 pounds of fresh local Dungeness Crab.” This level of community support with a cadre of volunteers make this event worth staying the weekend in Unforgettable Grays Harbor County.
All ages are invited to attend this epic dinner at the Ocosta Rec Hall located at 45 Ocosta 6th Street. Although this is an Aberdeen address, the rec hall is located between Westport and Aberdeen, just a few blocks off State Route 105.
Guests ages 13 and up can enjoy this feast for $40, it is $20 for those ages 6 to 12, kids age five and under are free. Tickets are available only at the door. The Booster Club accepts cash and credit cards.

Avalon Glassworks from West Seattle is returning to the Museum of the North Beach in Moclips for their annual art glass float sale on Sunday, March 24 from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
The 2024 special edition Moclips float is called “Wild Iris” with colorful twisting bands of yellow, blue and green on a clear background. Each float measures 4″ in diameter and is stamped “Moclips-By-The-Sea” on the sealing button.
The float sells for $45.00 with 50% of the proceeds going to the Museum. This is the 20th special edition Moclips glass float produced by Avalon.
Meet the artists Jon & Shannon Felix, owners of Avalon Glassworks. They will be selling other incredible hand-blown art glass floats and special beach related sealife in glass. Visit their website at www.avalonglassworks.com.

Home fires claim seven lives every day, but you can help change that. Join the American Red Cross during a local Sound the Alarm event. No prior experience is necessary; we’ll provide all the training you’ll need. This event will be held rain or shine. April 13th, 2024. Please wear layers, closed toed shoes, and a water bottle. The 2nd Annual Race for Recovery will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, starting at 8:00 am. The Race for Recovery is organized by the Quinault Wellness Center in Aberdeen, Washington. The Quinault Wellness Center supports the local community by providing a holistic approach for the treatment of substance use disorders. All community members are accepted; you do not have to be a tribal member to be a patient. Our low barrier services aim to provide accessible and non-judgmental care to individuals seeking help, regardless of their circumstances. We understand that life can be challenging and that everyone has unique experiences, that’s why our services are tailored to meet our clients specific needs.
At Quinault Wellness Center, we understand the profound impact of substance use disorders on individuals, families, and the community at large. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care that addresses not only the addiction itself but also the underlying issues that contribute to it.

North Beach PAWS, a private, all volunteer, no-kill animal shelter headquartered in Hoquiam, is hosting its second low-cost vaccination clinic of 2024 scheduled for Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the South Beach Regional Fire Authority Training Center located at 805 WA-105 in Westport. Vaccinations and microchips are $20 each. Core vaccines include rabies, DAPP, and Bordetella for dogs, and rabies and FVRCP for cats. Flea treatment for cats will also be available for $20. North Beach PAWS recently held a vaccination clinic at The Feed Bin in Rochester where approximately 60 animals received vaccinations and/or microchips.
No appointments are needed or will be accepted, the event is first-come, first-served. Dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in carriers.

There will be two race divisions.
The first race is a timed 1-mile race and is open to 1st–5th grade students. If
there is enough participation, we would like to score teams based on the
students attending grade school and prizes will be given accordingly.
The second race is a community 1-mile fun-run and is open to all ages.
Cost: Registration will be the day of at the track. The cost is $5.00 per person
or $20.00 per family to participate regardless of which race you choose. Either
Cash or Checks will be accepted.
Fundraiser: The proceeds from this event go to support the Aberdeen
Cross Country Team and Aberdeen ASB.
As part of First Presbyterian Church of Aberdeen’s mission to the community, our church will hold a spaghetti dinner and craft fair on Saturday, November 2 nd from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funds raised will be used to purchase stocking caps, socks and gloves for those in need. The dinner will include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, and beverage. Vegetarian & Gluten Free options are available. The cost is $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Crafts for the event are being made and donated by the congregation.
Tickets can be purchased at the church office or at the door the day of the event.

What: Ring in the New Year with a “First Day Hike” at Lake Sylvia State Park, Montesano. There will be several hikes to choose from including a family-led ranger hike, a children’s hike, and a “Shinrin-yoku” Nature Hike. Dogs are welcome on the family and children’s hikes.
Shinrin-yoku” Nature Hike- Shinrin-yoku means “taking in the forest atmosphere” or “Forest bathing. Join environmental educator and nature enthusiast Kathy Jacobson in this “First Day Hike.” We’ll enjoy sensory activities as we “take in” the forest atmosphere on the park trails and explore the connection between healthy forests, streams, and salmon. This hike is best for ages 10 and up. Please no dogs on this walk.
1.5 Lake Trail – Open to all ages. The hike will take in the sights and sounds of the park on the trail around the lake. The trail can be slippery and muddy, so rain/mud boots are highly recommended.
.5 Mile Kids Hike – The group will be led by staff over the bridge and up through group campground and back toward the dam with a return to the Legacy Pavilion. Along the way plant species and little critters will be discussed.
