Miami Connection at the 7th Street Theatre – A benefit for Harbor Rescue @ 7th Street Theatre
Sep 5 @ 7:00 pm
Miami Connection at the 7th Street Theatre - A benefit for Harbor Rescue @ 7th Street Theatre | Hoquiam | Washington | United States

Come out to see cult classic and rarity Miami Connection (1987) at the historic 7th Street Theatre! All proceeds for this showing benefit the local animal rescue Harbor Rescue – “saving people, one dog at a time”!

We worked hard to get a super fun, cult-following film! Don’t miss out on a one-time event! We will also be featuring food and raffle items from local businesses such as Passport Cafe and Rediviva. This isn’t just a movie, it’s a fun community event and it’s all for a good cause – helping Harbor Rescue with abandonment and neglect cases and making life better for all citizens of Grays Harbor – four-legged and two-legged.

“The year is 1987. Motorcycle ninjas tighten their grip on Florida’s narcotics trade, viciously annihilating anyone who dares move in on their turf. Multi-national martial arts rock band Dragon Sound have had enough, and embark on a roundhouse wreck-wave of crime-crushing justice. When not chasing beach bunnies or performing their hit song “Against the Ninja,” Mark (taekwondo master/inspirational speaker Y.K. Kim) and the boys are kicking and chopping at the drug world’s smelliest underbelly. It’ll take every ounce of their blood and courage, but Dragon Sound can’t stop until they’ve completely destroyed the dealers, the drunk bikers, the kill-crazy ninjas, the middle-aged thugs, the “stupid cocaine”…and the entire MIAMI CONNECTION!”

The film is not rated. It features drug references, brief nudity, and martial arts violence.

Silver Screen Classics Film Series: “All About Eve” @ 7th Street Theatre
Sep 13 @ 7:30 pm
Silver Screen Classics Film Series: "All About Eve" @ 7th Street Theatre | Hoquiam | Washington | United States

“Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night,” is the legendary line delivered by Bette Davis in the 1950 classic, “All About Eve,” the next offering of the Silver Screen Classics Film Series.

The film tells the story of an ambitious young actress who maneuvers her way into the lives of an aging Broadway star and her circle of friends. Davis is said to have alleged the role was based on the life of actress Talullah Bankhead.

The film won six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director and Screenplay. Davis and Anne Baxter were both nominated for Best Actress, which is thought to have split the vote and cost Davis the Oscar.

“House of Wax” @ 7th Street Theatre
Oct 4 @ 7:00 pm
"House of Wax" @ 7th Street Theatre | Hoquiam | Washington | United States

Vincent Price delivers suspense and horror at the House of Wax, at 7Street Theatre October 4-5.

The first use of 3D technology in a major Hollywood movie was the gimmick that made the 1953 film, House of Wax, a huge box office hit.

The suspense/horror film is the next offering of the Silver Screen Classics Film Series.

Compared with current 3D movies, “House of Wax” is pretty passé, mostly two-dimensional with most of its 3D shots gimmicks such as a ping pong ball seemingly leaping off the screen into viewers’ laps. The movie will not be shown in 3D at 7th Street Theatre.

Top-billed Vincent Price was an established minor role actor when House of Wax pushed his career into a new direction – gothic horror movies such as House of Usher and The Pit and the Pendulum. Here, Price plays a gifted but ultimately demented wax sculptor, seemingly come back from the dead to wreak vengeance on his murderous business partner.

Tickets are available at the door, online at brownpapertickets.com, and at Harbor Drug in Hoquiam and City Drug in Aberdeen.

7th Street Classic Film Series Presents: “Shaun of the Dead” @ 7th Street Theatre
Oct 24 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
7th Street Classic Film Series Presents: "Shaun of the Dead" @ 7th Street Theatre | Hoquiam | Washington | United States

The huge hit TV series “Walking Dead” resumed pushing the atrocity envelope this week, with some humans behaving far worse than the zombies. But for a completely different take on the massively popular zombie theme, why not try the 7th Street Theatre’s Halloween movie, the hilarious “Shaun of the Dead.”

Shaun, played by Simon Pegg (who also co-authored the screenplay), finally decides to turn his rather aimless life around, but encounters an unexpected good news/bad news situation. The bad news is that a zombie apocalypse has begun in London. The good news is that it might just offer Shaun the chance to prove himself, provided he can help his friends survive those who have become, as Shaun’s mother says, “a bit bitey.”

The dialogue is often hysterically funny and the film is loaded with pop culture references. It actually created a new genre sub-category, the “rom-zom-com,” or romantic zombie comedy.

“White Christmas” @ 7th Street Theatre
Nov 28 @ 7:30 pm
"White Christmas" @ 7th Street Theatre | Hoquiam | Washington | United States

Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney and Danny Kaye star in the 1954 release, with songs and music by the legendary composer Irving Berlin.  The feel-good story has WWII veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis (Crosby and Kaye) teaming up to become a top song-and-dance act and becoming romantically involved with sisters Betty and Judy Haynes (played by Clooney and Vera-Ellen) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General save the failing lodge.

The film features Berlin’s title tune that had already become a holiday staple, “White Christmas.” The song was originally heard in 1942’s Holiday Inn, and received the Academy Award for Best Song that year, Berlin’s only Oscar win.

Crosby was a native of Tacoma, WA, and won a Best Actor Oscar for 1944’s Going My Way. He is a member of the Radio Hall of Fame and is widely considered to be popular culture’s first multi-media star, having topped the charts on radio, with movies, television specials and a recording career that included 38 number one singles, more than Elvis Presley or The Beatles.

Doors open at 7

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets available for sale at the door, or purchase in advance at Harbor Drug in Hoquiam, City Drug in Aberdeen and at brownpapertickets.com.
