Local artists with hand crafted items for sale. Grange ladies will be serving a light lunch with soup, roll and home made apple crisp.

Our Salon Readings feature local authors and poets reading short passages from their work. The public is welcome to listen. Books may be available for purchase and signing.
Saturday, October 1st we’ll be offering our first quarterly Salon Reading. Local writers are joined by readers and those who love story.
Our featured reader is poet Dwight Johnson.
The event begins at 7 p.m., should last an hour to an hour and a half, is free and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Writers are welcome to come by and read from their work. While there is no need to sign up in advance it is recommended to assure a spot.

Come out to Rokfest 6, the annual music event to raise funds for the South Pacific County Humane Society! Local Harbor favorite band Six Pack Pretty will play 80’s cover tunes, with Woodland,WA-based band Stiffler opening. All proceeds go to help animals in need! Admission is free, with donations accepted.
Fantastic prizes will be raffled off throughout the evening, all for a great cause.
Come dance the night away at this fun annual community event that makes a difference. Ages 21+. Event runs from 8:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. At Charlie’s Tavern, 313 South Main St., in Montesano.

The first film, “Minimalism,” and is sponsored by Alder Creative.
“Minimalism,” described as a documentary about the important things, examines the lives of minimalists from all walks of life.
Each film will be screened backstage at the Bishop Center; seating will be arranged pub-style and movies will be viewed on an enormous screen. The tickets are $10 per film, which includes popcorn and a slice of pizza; beverages will be available for purchase. A discussion among the film-watchers will follow each movie.

Westport Timberland Library presents Canoe Building in the Chinook Tradition, 6-7 p.m., October 19 for adults and teens. Tony Johnson is Tribal Chair for the Chinook Tribe–and a master canoe builder. He will share the lore and craftsmanship of building a wood canoe following tribal practices with a talk illustrated by slides of canoes he has built. This is part of Timberland Reads Together, an annual Timberland Regional Library district-wide program. For more information call 360-268-0521.

The Aberdeen Lions Club presents its 12th annual Toast the Harbor Food and Wine Festival.
Patrons will be able to taste wines from a dozen different wineries, beer from two breweries andspirits from a local distiller, plus shop at many different food and retail vendors. We will have bottles of your favorite wines available for purchase.
You will be able to browse and participate in the silent auction items throughout the open hours. We will have an abundance of wonderful items from our local businesses: fine jewelry, vacation stays, fishing charters, many unique gift baskets, fine art, home decor, gift certificates and so much more to choose from. Bring your generous hearts and your fun loving competitive spirit.
The Friends of the Winlock Timberland Library will hold their yearly Silent Auction of locally crafted, artisan items starting Tuesday, November 8. Here is the schedule:
- Saturday, November 5 – Last day to bring items for donation to the library
- Tuesday, November 8 – Auction opens, silent bids accepted at the library
- Wednesday, November 23 at 2 p.m.- Bidding closes
All proceeds support events and programs at the Winlock Timberland Library.

Author John O’Brien talks about the latest in his “A New World” Series. O’Brien, author of the 10-book, “A New World” series, explains that he wrote with one guiding question in mind: what would he do in the event of an apocalypse?
The author will talk about, and read excerpts from his books at the Aberdeen Timberland Library, Saturday, November 19 from 2-3 p.m. Following the talk, O’Brien will sign books.The Friends of the Aberdeen Timberland Library will provide refreshments for this program.
O’Brien is a former Air Force fighter pilot instructor who transitioned to Special Operations for the latter part of his military career, earning a campaign ribbon for his service in Desert Storm. Following military service he became a firefighter and EMT, then joined the Information Technology industry in corporate management. Currently, O’Brien works full-time writing books for the “A New World” series.
