Practicum (‘prak-ti-k’m). The word practicum indicates that education should be practical. It points to the acquisition and mastery of knowledge in a manner that is useful and effective. It derives from the Latin practicus, a noun which means “one who practices or takes action.”
Are you new to homeschooling and feeling overwhelmed? We want to help you succeed in your home education mission. Join us this summer as experienced homeschoolers present three-day training sessions for parents. Rather than taking a well-deserved break from school and all things educational, these experienced homeschoolers begin to travel across their regions and around the country to present three-day training sessions to reinforce the classical, Christian model.
Are you new to classical education? Our morning sessions will unpack the classical, Christian model and allow you to practice skills for learning alongside your children at home. Afternoon sessions will go in depth with particular subjects. In both sessions, parents will have opportunities to discuss new ideas and to practice their new-found skills.
Are you discouraged with your home school? Or, do you feel you could encourage others? In addition to providing a place to practice the teaching tools, our FREE one-day and three-day Parent Practicums equip our families across the nation each year with the encouragement and camaraderie they need to teach their children well. Each practicum is a place to connect, to question, to celebrate both failure and success, and to gain confidence in our ability to use the classical model to learn and to teach our children any subject.
In 2013, Classical Conversations hosted hundreds of FREE training events for over 15,000 adults who wanted to learn more about teaching grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric skills to their students.
Academic & nursery day camps are also offered for children between the ages of 0-12 years for a low cost of $35 per child, which covers all 3 days. **Space is limited**

Join us as summer comes to an end, and celebrate with a free carnival for the whole family! Kicking off with an amazing Celebration Service at 9:45 am, we’ll enjoy great worship and an incredible word by our very own Pastor Doug Cotton! Then, we’ll head outside to play carnival games, play on inflatable toys, enjoy treats of all kinds, and for the adults, a ladder ball tournaments and football toss. Raindrops provides education in a preschool environment. It’s a great place for children to practice skills, develop emotional and physical abilities and forge lifelong friendships!
Come support Raindrop preschool with a fun bingo night! Lots of prizes and a cash raffle! Doors open at 6, Bingo begins at 6:30.
$1 each card or $5 for 6 cards.

The 2015 Mini-camp session of 7th Street Kids will perform Disney’s “The Jungle Book Kids” Friday, July 17 at 3:00 p.m. at the theater. This musical production features 20 kids ages 6 – 12 and runs about 30 minutes. Admission is free! There will be a brief preview of the larger production “My Son, Pinocchio” prior to the start of Jungle Book.

In this brand new holiday show The Science of Santa, Doktor Kaboom works from the assumption that science and magic are the same thing, and declares Mr. Claus the world’s greatest scientist! Following this theory, the good Doktor attempts to recreate all of Santa’s wonders.
The annual Feast for All will be served at the Aberdeen Presbyterian Church located at 4th and Broadway, on Saturday, December 19th from 5:00-6:30 PM. A free full 3 course meal will be prepared and served by members of the church, youth group and youth from Amazing Grace church. The meal is available to anyone in the community who would like to enjoy a nice restaurant style served meal. For more information call 532-1330.
