Reader’s Choice: GraysHarborTalk’s Most-Read Stories in February

Cold, wild weather has marked the month of February. However, on GraysHarborTalk it has been a month of sharing the good things happening and the people making a difference around the county. From doctors impacting lives to reliving a bit of history, these are the stories that you, our readers, liked the most this month.

Dr. Erickson is a marvel serving not only as the chief of staff at GHCH, but also seeing patients in her family practice, working with a local hospice group and working with palliative care at Providence St. Peter in Olympia. As our most-read story this month, it’s clear the community appreciates Dr. Erickson’s dedication.

Hometown hero Joel Bialkowsky is living his dream of being a pilot while serving in the U.S. Navy. When he’s not landing his F18 Super Hornet on aircraft carriers, he spends time back home in Montesano with his wife and young daughter as well as speaking to students at his alma mater, Montesano High. This story by Lesley Klenk captured our Grays Harbor readers interest this month.

3. Ocean Shores to Westport: Remembering the El Matador Ferry

So many memories for locals and visitors alike are wrapped up in trips across the mouth of Grays Harbor on the El Matador. Douglas Scott’s historical look at the ferry service has created lots of conversation among neighbors and friends, thinking fondly of years gone by.

4. Editors Choice: Quinault Artist Ezekiel Serrano

Quinault artist Ezekiel Serrano is backed up by members of his tribe in front of the Quinault Cultural Center.

Writer Christine Vincent’s story about Ezekiel Serrano, a young, talented Quinault artist, is as inspiring as it is visually beautiful. Serrano’s carvings and traditional art is shared with care and his love for his tribe, and dedication to preserving the traditions, comes through.
