Join students from Evergreen State College’s Grays Harbor program for a free, family-friendly event!
Students will share highlights from the year, including an overview of the OSPI Candidates Forum, oral history interviews, and other research projects.
Learn about the history of Harbor schools and discover what’s possible when communities and schools form partnerships.
Light refreshments will be served. Free art projects and face-painting for the little ones.

Seventy-Five years ago this year, the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) established the first certified tree farm in North America on the Clemons Tree Farm near the City of Montesano, in Grays Harbor County, Washington. From that beginning , the ATFS has grown to over 80,000 family owned tree farms nationwide, and over 900 in Washington State alone. A coalition of forestry partners has come together to organize the celebration of the significant milestone.
The morning will be a ceremony “Honoring Tree Farmers” who epitomize what it is to be Stewards of the Land, and then head out for some interesting forester-led tours of Lake Sylvia State Park after lunch at Montesano high school.
Join the Tokeland Fourth of July Parade at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, then picnic on the grounds of the Historic Tokeland Hotel. It’s free to enter the parade (your imagination is the only thing required) and the picnic lunch and games for all ages on the grounds are free, also. Prizes will be awarded for best parade entry and winners of all of the different games.

Guests and homeowners alike decorate their porches while residents, guests and visitors walk around to pick their favorites. Everyone has a chance to stop at Crescent Park to vote for their favorite home by 9:00 p.m. where the s’mores roasting begins! The people’s choice and judge’s choice winners will be announced at the Flag Presentation at 11:00 a.m. on July 4 at the Front Street Amphitheater flag pole. A bike parade and Farmers Market follow.

Step back in time this Independence Day with the Westport Maritime Museum’s Old Fashioned 4th. Kid’s activities, games, music, craft and food vendors will be on-site all day long. Stay for the evening and enjoy the Booming Bay Fireworks Display at dusk over the Westport Marina.

The day-long festival with inflatable games, rides, live music, food and craft vendors, and family entertainment begins at noon and runs until 5:00 p.m. at Morrison Waterfront Park. For the evening, the Splash Festival switches to Seaport Landing (the historic seaport on the opposite side of the Chehalis River) from 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. The fireworks display, which may be seen from either side of the river, begins at 10:00 p.m.

Have you noticed the snow and cold this winter? Is it part of the future?
The Chehalis River Basin Land Trust is sponsoring a community forum to talk about climate change and how our community can respond.
The discussion will be introduced by Centralia College instructor Dr. Lisa Carlson. She offers this statement: Climate change is here. Predictions of warmer temperatures, more wildfire and more intense storms seem to be coming true. What does this mean for Washington State? How will my family and I be affected? What can we do to prepare for it and help reduce our climate impact?
The event will be on Wednesday, March 6th, at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Grand Mound. The event is from 6 to 8 PM; light refreshments will be served.
What’s better than making a new doormat? Making a new doormat and enjoying some mimosas. (Mimosas are for guests 21+) This class is part of our 12 Days of Christmas in July. Any guest who attends a workshop in July will be automatically entered into a drawing for 6 months of Free Signs. Each month our winner will be given a code for a free PYP workshop for the months of August 2022 – January 2023. Looking for a fun way to spruce up your front porch? Join us for our DIY doormat workshop! Select a design from our gallery. We provide all the materials and instruct you step-by-step to create a beautiful piece for your home or for a gift. Choose from a variety of paint colors in the workshop. Cost for a workshop is $45 and pre-registration is required. Along with their doormat project, guests will also receive a free home kit. We look forward to seeing you soon!

In addition to creating a personalized wood sign from our gallery, you will be treated to a hands-on cookie decorating demonstration by The Sugar Canvas Boutique Bakery. We provide all the materials and instruct you step-by-step. The cost for a workshop is $35 for guests and pre-registration is required. This workshop includes an added fee of $32 for the extra instruction time and cookie decorating supplies, which will be collected during the registration process.
